About the Author
Rue Matthiessen
Rue Matthiessen is the author of the art theft novel Woman with Eyes Closed (June 2025) set in London and the Netherlands; Buttonwood Cottage, a story about renovating a house in the Caribbean; and Castles & Ruins, her memoir about growing up in Sagaponack, NY, with writers of ardent literary ambition.
She has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize twice and her essays and short fiction have been published in numerous literary journals.
Recently, Rue was featured in the Bridgehampton Museum’s Distinguished Lecturer Series, and in the Longhouse Talks series in East Hampton, NY.
Currently, Rue is based on the East End of Long Island.
