Jewish Storyteller Press (Scott Davis, Publisher)

Jewish Storyteller Press is a small publishing house founded by Emmy Award-winning television producer and Jewish storyteller Scott Hilton Davis. Former executive producer at North Carolina’s statewide public television network, Scott stumbled upon the work of 19th-century Yiddish author Jacob Dinezon while doing research and discovered that Dinezon was a bestseller in his time and a mentor to the three renowned classic writers of Yiddish literature – Sholem Abramovitsh, Sholem Aleichem and I. L. Peretz. However, Dinezon never gained appropriate recognition. So Davis commissioned translations of Dinezon’s work and founded Jewish Storyteller Press to bring the stories of 19th-century Yiddish writers to twenty-first century English-speaking readers. Its titles include Memories and Scenes, Yosele, and The Dark Young Man, all by Dinezon, and Davis’ own Souls Are Flying.
