Janis Powers
Janis Powers, author of Health Care: Meet the American Dream, is an advisor to health care providers specializing in strategy and operations. Her unique professional background has exposed her to how the behavior of payers – be they the government or insurance companies – impact the inner workings of the healthcare system. Powers has worked for the full spectrum of providers, including federally qualified health clinics, academic medical centers and integrated delivery systems. She can effectively translate how changes in policy, technology and competitive forces will impact the cost, amount, and quality of care that patients will receive. A firm believer that every dollar wasted in the health care system is a dollar that could be spent improving the life of someone else, Janis will listen thoughtfully to anyone’s point of view. She is alumna of Yale with a Masters in Business and Architecture from the University of Michigan, and lives in Austin, Texas with her family.
